Community Based Natural Resource CBNRM LI’s Mission Management (CBNRM) is a rapidly growing approach to natural resource management in Cambodia and the region. It plays an integral role in poverty alleviation and in sustainable livelihoods and resource management. It is also a key element in the conservation, and decentralisation policies and strategies of the Royal Government of Cambodia. For this reason, the Learning Institute works with partners to analyze and improve the approach to CBNRM.

CBNRM is a rapidly growing approach to natural resource management in Cambodia. The CBNRM Learning Institute supports this approach as an integral component of proverty alleviation, sustainable livelihoods and resource management, conservation, adn decentralization policies and strategies of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

It does through building and strengthening links to locally based approaches, empowering local communities to participate actively in the conservation and sustainable management of natural resources through Community Forestry (CF), Community Fisheries (CFish), Participatory Land Use Planning (PLUP), Community Based Eco-Tourism (CBET) and Community Protected Areas Management (CPA).

Human resources development: to build the conceptual, analytical, research and documentation skills of facilitators, researchers and practitioners at all levels.

Knowledge building and sharing: to identify, analyse and share lessons, and experiences of various approaches to CBNRM.

Partnership building and networking: to build links among organizations and institutions supporting CBNRM strategie.

Institutional arrangements and policy support: to enable relevant institutions to understand the policy context that influences CBNRM in the field and to increase skills in achieving objectives in a sustainable way.
